Can Nepali Citizen join the National Defence Academy India

Jai Hind Future Warriors today we are going to discuss the conditions of eligibility of Nepali Citizens for the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla. First, we will look at some details of the NDA Entry.

About NDA:

The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force train together before they go on to pre-commissioning training in their respective service academies. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla near Pune, Maharashtra.

NDA Selection Procedure in Brief:

There will be an all-India written exam conducted by UPSC for the eligible candidates and selected candidates will have to undergo a 5-day interview process at one of the SSBs. Candidates recommended by SSB and declared medically fit by respective military hospitals will be issued joining letters as per their ranks based on aggregate marks of SSB + Written.

How to prepare for the NDA Exam?

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nationality : A candidate must be unmarried male and must be :
  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • Person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Age Criteria
  • Candidates of the age group 16.5-19.5 years(at the time of joining) are eligible to apply.
  • The date of birth on the Matriculation Certificate will only be accepted.
  • Educational Qualifications:
  • The minimum qualification required is a 12th passing certificate.
  • Candidates who are currently in class XII need to ensure that they are able to procure their passing certificate before the ‘Directorate General of Recruiting, Army HQ, West Block.III, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066’ and for Naval Academy candidates to ‘Naval Headquarters, DMPR, OI&R Section, Room No. 204, ‘C’ Wing, Sena Bhavan, New Delhi-110011’ latest by 24 December 2022.
  • Specific requirements for the different wings are:

1.  For Army Wing: Candidates of any stream can apply for the Army wing.

2.  For Air Force and Navy/Naval Academy: Candidates who fill Air Force and Navy/ Naval Academy as their first choice need to have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as one of the subjects in class XII.  

Now coming back to our topic there are two cases:

  • Gorkhas are eligible for NDA
  • Nepali citizens who are not Gorkhas need to have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Indian Government in his name.
  • Other than this every procedure of selection remains same for all candidates no matter their nationality.
