Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Visited the Maldives

Rajnath Singh will pay an official visit to the Maldives between May 01-03, 2023. Rajnath Singh will hold bilateral talks with his Maldivian counterpart Ms Mariya Ahmed Didi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Abdulla Shahid.
In tune with India’s commitment to capacity building of friendly countries & partners in the region, Shri Rajnath Singh will gift one Fast Patrol Vessel ship and a Landing Craft to the Maldives National Defence Forces.
India and the Maldives are working closely to effectively address shared challenges, including maritime security, terrorism, radicalization, piracy, trafficking, organised crime and natural disasters.
India’s vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) along with its ‘Neighborhood First’ policy as well as Maldives’ ‘India First’ policy seek to work together to jointly develop the capabilities within the Indian Ocean Region.

Chief Of The Air Staff Visits Sri Lanka

Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari embarked on a four-day official visit to Sri Lanka. During the visit, the CAS is scheduled to meet the President of Sri Lanka, the PM of Sri Lanka, the Hon’ble State Minister of Defence, the CDS, the Commanders of the Sri Lanka Air Force, the Army & Navy, and the Defence Secretary.
The CAS is visiting Sri Lanka at the invitation of the Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal SK Pathirana. During the visit, the CAS shall also interact with student officers of the National Defence College, Sri Lanka, and visit the Sri Lankan Air Force Academy.

NSA Doval Holds Talks With His Iranian Counterpart

NSA Ajit Doval held talks with his Iranian counterpart Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
The two officials discussed economic, political, and security issues concerning the two countries as well as the most important regional and international developments.
Iran is located at a strategic and crucial geographical location between the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea.
Iran is important to India as it provides an alternate route of connectivity to Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics, in the absence of permission for India to use the land route through Pakistan.

Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan Takes Commander-In-Chief, CINCAN

Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan has taken over as the 17^th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) on 01 May 2023.
The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) is the only Joint-services Command in India and serves as a model for the country’s planned theaterisation of Army, Navy, and Air Force capabilities.
Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan is a distinguished alumnus of the NDA Khadakwasla, having been commissioned into the fighter stream of the IAF in 1986.
With over 3200 accident-free fighter flying hours on various variants of MIG-21 and Kiran aircraft, he is an accomplished fighter combat leader.

AIR MARSHAL NARMDESHWAR TIWARI took over as Air Officer AOC-in-C SWAC

Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Southwestern Air Command (SWAC) at Gandhinagar on 01 May 2023. He succeeds Air Marshal Vikram Singh, who superannuated on 30 Apr 2023.
Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari was commissioned in the Fighter Stream on 07 Jun 1986. He is an alumnus of the NDA and passed out as the President’s Gold Medalist. He has flown over 3600 hours on various types of aircraft. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor as well as an Experimental Test Pilot.
