PM Narendra Modi Inaugurated Raisina Dialogue 2023

PM launched the 8^th edition of the Raisina Dialogue on Geopolitics and Geostrategy in New Delhi on 2 March.
The theme of the Raisina Dialogue 2023: “Provocation, Uncertainty, Turbulence: Lighthouse in the Tempest.”
The Raisina Dialogue has been organised jointly by the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF, established in 1990).

Its main objective is to explore possibilities and opportunities for Asian integration as well as better integration of Asia with the rest of the world.

Major Changes In The Appointment Process Of Election Commissioners By SC

The Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court gave a major judgement that the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners would be appointed by the President on the advice of a committee.
The committee will include the PM, the Leader of the Opposition (Lok Sabha) and the CJI.
According to SC, If there is no Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, then the leader of the largest opposition party will be included in the appointment committee.
5-judge constitution bench headed by Justice KM Joseph said the rule would remain in force until Parliament enacts a law on the issue
They can only be removed by impeachment in Parliament, (Earlier: Removed by the government).

Japan, USA, South Korea and Taiwan have held the 1^st meeting of senior officials under a new U.S.-led framework to help ensure a stable supply of semiconductors.
Officials from industry organizations took part in the virtual conference of the “Chip 4” alliance to discuss ways to maintain supply chain resilience in times of natural disasters and other contingencies.
The US administration aims to constrain Beijing’s semiconductor industry, there are hurdles to overcome, including whether Seoul will be willing to join Washington’s ban on exports of advanced chip-making equipment to China that Japan and the Netherlands have recently agreed to join.
China is building up its own domestic chip capacity.
It is reportedly planning on a massive $140 billion package to initiate self-sufficiency and counter U.S. moves.
