Airstrikes in a Myanmar village feared to have killed 100Â
- Airstrikes by Myanmar’s military on Tuesday killed as many as 100 people, including many children, who were attending a ceremony held by opponents of army rule.
- The military is increasingly using airstrikes to counter a widespread armed struggle against its rule, which began in February 2021 when it seized power from the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi. More than 3,000 civilians are estimated to have been killed since then by security forces.
- A witness told The Associated Press that a fighter jet dropped bombs directly into a crowd of people who were gathering at 8 a.m. for the opening of a local office of the country’s opposition movement outside Pazigyi village in Sagaing region’s Kanbalu township.
- The area is about 110 kilometers (70 miles) north of Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city.

5th INDIA–UK Home Affairs Dialogue
- The 5th India-UK Home Affairs Dialogue was held in New Delhi. The Indian delegation was led by Union Home Secretary, Ajay Kumar Bhalla and the UK delegation was led by Permanent Secretary, Home Office, Sir Matthew Rycroft.
- Both sides reviewed the ongoing cooperation and identified further steps that can be taken to explore opportunities and synergies in advancing cooperation in counter-terrorism, cyber security & global supply chains, drug trafficking, migration, extradition, anti-India activities in UK including Pro-Khalistan Extremism among other issues.
- The meeting concluded with both sides expressing satisfaction with the ongoing partnership and agreeing to deepen bilateral engagement and maintain the momentum for enhanced security cooperation between the two countries.
Sweden Shuts Down Embassy In Islamabad For Security Reasons
- Sweden has closed its Embassy in Islamabad for an indefinite period of time due to the “current situation” of Pakistan, according to the official release from the embassy.
- Reports said that Pakistani students looking forward to taking admission to Swedish educational institutions will be affected the most as the new academic session starts in August and the visa processing takes 4-6 months.
EXERCISE COPE INDIA 2023
- The next phase of Exercise Cope India 23 will commence at Air Force Station Kalaikunda on 13 April 2023. This segment of the exercise will witness the participation of B1B bombers of the United States Air Force (USAF).
- F-15 fighter aircraft of the USAF will also join the exercise subsequently. The IAF element will include the Su-30 MKI, Rafale, Tejas and Jaguar fighter aircraft.
- The exercise will be supported by aerial refuellers, Airborne Warning and Control systems, and Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft of the IAF. The exercise will conclude on 24 April 2023.
Union Ministers Tasked With Visiting LAC Villages, Expediting Projects
- Union cabinet ministers are likely to visit border villages along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, spend a night there, and interact with locals to understand their problems and issues, said people aware of the matter.
- A list of 662 villages along the LAC in three states – Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Uttarakhand – and one Union Territory, Ladakh, has been shared with ministers’ offices and they have also been asked to review the developmental work there, said the people.
North Korea Fires Ballistic Missile Toward East Sea Of Japan
- Following its ongoing unwillingness to respond to what were formerly daily cross-border communications, North Korea on Thursday fired an unspecified ballistic missile towards the East Sea of Japan.
- Tensions increased on Tuesday as state media in the North claimed that leader Kim Jong-un had called for strengthening his nation’s military deterrence in a more “practical and offensive” way.
- Moreover, the Japanese government said the North Korean missile could be heading toward Japan as Pyongyang fired an unspecified missile in the East Sea amid rising tensions with Seoul and Washington.

- Regional Pollution Response Exercise RPREX-2023 coordinated by ICG Region (East) concluded at Kakinada. The two-day exercise aimed at assessing the Pollution response efficiency of the region, comprised of a simulated oil spill from a crude oil tanker off Kakinada.
