Lt Gen RS Reen Takes Over As DG Quality Assurance

Lt Gen RS Reen took over as Director General Quality Assurance on February 24, 2023. A 1986-batch officer, Lt Gen Reen is an alumnus of Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.
The Officer had completed his BE (Electrical) from National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, Specialisation in Radio Engineering and post-graduation in Communication Engineering from MC EME, Secunderabad.
He was a senior faculty at Defence Institute of Quality Assurance, Bengaluru.
The DGQA is an Inter-Service Organisation functioning under the Department of Defence Production in the MOD.
It is responsible for second party Quality Assurance of all defence stores and equipment, both imported as well as indigenous, for the Indian Army, Indian Navy (excluding Naval Armaments) and common user items for the IAF procured from private sector and public sector undertakings.

EXERCISE DESERT FLAG VIII 2023

An IAF contingent comprising 110 Air Warriors has arrived at Al Dhafra airbase of United Arab Emirates for participating in Exercise Desert Flag VIII.
The IAF is participating with five LCA Tejas and two C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. This is the first occasion when the LCA Tejas shall participate in an international flying exercise outside India.
Exercise Desert Flag is a multilateral air exercise in which Air Forces from UAE, France, Kuwait, Australia, UK, Bahrain, Morocco, Spain, Republic of Korea, and USA would also be participating.
The exercise is scheduled from 27 Feb 23 to 17 Mar 23.
The aim of the exercise is to participate in diverse fighter engagements and learn from the best practices of various Air Forces.

EXERCISE COBRA WARRIOR 2023

An Indian Air Force contingent comprising 145 Air Warriors departed Air Force Station Jamnagar today for participating in Exercise Cobra Warrior at the Waddington Air Force Base of the Royal Air Force in United Kingdom. The exercise is scheduled from 06 Mar 23 to 24 Mar 23.
The Exercise Cobra Warrior is a multilateral Air exercise in which Air Forces from Finland, Sweden, South Africa, United States of America and Singapore would also be participating alongside Royal Air Force and IAF.
The IAF is participating in the exercise this year with five Mirage 2000 fighters, two C-17 Globemaster III and an IL-78 mid air refueller aircraft. The aim of the exercise is to participate in diverse fighter aircraft engagements and learn from the best practices of various Air Forces.

National War Memorial Observed Its 4^th Anniversary

The NWM is observing its fourth anniversary on February 25, 2023. The Memorial, which stands testimony to the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers since Independence, was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25, 2019.
Amar Jawan Jyoti:
The flame of Amar Jawan Jyoti was established to pay tributes to the soldiers who had died in the 1971 war.
It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on Republic Day 1972.
It commemorates the dead and unknown soldiers who lost their lives in the conflict that resulted in the creation of independent Bangladesh. The burning flame is considered immortal.

Indian Navy’s All Women Car Rally Flagged

The All-Women Car Rally, comprising women officers of the Indian Navy and members of the Navy Wellness and Welfare Association (NWWA), was Flagged-in, 25 Feb 23 by Adm R Hari Kumar, CNS and Mrs Kala Hari Kumar, President NWWA.
In his address the CNS congratulated the participants on not only completing the memorable journey covering 2300 km but also touching the lives and minds of many, as part of the outreach programmes. He expressed confidence that the interactions with young girls at private and government schools enroute, would motivate them to pursue their ambitions, including joining the Indian Navy and the Armed Forces. “A small spark today, will pave way for a big leap tomorrow” he said.
Emphasizing Indian Navy’s gender neutral outlook, the CNS spoke about various significant steps – like the maiden induction of women Agniveers last year and the opening up of all branches and specialisations for women officers. “It is quite clear to us that it will be Nari Shakti that will propel India’s growth in this Amrit Kaal” he said.
He complimented the Navy Wellness and Welfare Association (NWWA) on the community outreach during the journey, in helping organisations involved in the noble work of supporting abandoned elders, as well as underprivileged and special children. “While this rally has made its contribution, I am sure NWWA will continue to play its part in assisting people in need as a compassionate caregiver”.
