DRDO Holds Interaction With The Industry In Hyderabad

A day-long industry interaction and brainstorming session were organised by DRDO at Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad on May 27, 2023.
It was aimed at bringing all defence industries, including MSMEs & start-ups, to one platform for understanding their concerns while increasing awareness of various industry-friendly initiatives and policies of DRDO. More than 180 industries participated in the event.
The DRDO, in collaboration with the Quality Council of India (QCI), has developed the ‘System for Advanced Manufacturing Assessment and Ranking (SAMAR)’ certification, a benchmark to measure the maturity of defence manufacturing enterprises, including MSMEs.

Indian Navy Pays Tribute To Late Admiral Ronald

The centennial birthday celebrations of Late Admiral Ronald Lynsdale Pereira, PVSM, AVSM (Retd) were held at Bengaluru from 25 – 27 May 23. A large number of Armed Forces personnel and distinguished veterans, including former CONS, gathered to honour the memory of the ninth CONS.
Several eminent speakers recalled Admiral Pereira’s remarkable career in the Indian Navy spanning four decades (1943 to 1982. Known for his integrity, courage and commitment to technological self-reliance, Admiral Pereira played a vital role in shaping the modern Indian Navy.
The Navy Foundation Bengaluru Chapter, an organisation of retired naval officers, also participated in the centennial commemorative events. Admiral RL Pereira, who settled in Bengaluru after retirement, had worked tirelessly for the cause of ex-servicemen until his passing on 14 October 1993.
The large number of serving and retired Armed Forces personnel gathering for the event is a testament to Admiral Pereira’s enduring legacy, which continues to inspire current and future generations. Both serving senior leadership and distinguished veterans called upon all to follow Admiral Pereira’s example of leadership, integrity and moral courage.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh Visited Nigeria

Rajnath Singh visited Nigeria b/w May 28-30, 2023, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect of the West African nation Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Shri Rajnath Singh will attend the swearing-in ceremony at Eagle Square in Abuja on 29^th May.
He will also meet the outgoing Nigerian President Mr. Muhammadu Buhari during a reception hosted by him on 28^th May.
This will be the first-ever visit of an Indian Defence Minister to Nigeria. The Raksha Mantri’s visit will be an important landmark in building the strong bonds of friendship between the two countries.
Nigeria is home to an estimated 50,000 members of the Indian community. The Raksha Mantri will address the Indian diaspora at Abuja during the visit.

Chief Of The Army Staff Proceeds On A Visit To MANIPUR

The Chief of Army Staff, General Manoj Pande visited Manipur on 27 & 28 May 2023. The COAS visited various locations where he will interact with the local formation commanders and obtain a first-hand account of the situation obtained on the ground. He also interacted with the troops.
On 28 May 2023, he met Ms. Anusuiya Uikey, Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Mr. N Biren Singh, the Chief Minister and Mr. Kuldiep Singh, the Chief Security Advisor of Manipur, discussed and deliberated over the current situation and future trajectory, in order to restore normalcy at the earliest.
Owing to the internal security situation in Manipur, the State Administration had requisitioned Army and Assam Rifles on 03 May 2023. As an immediate response, Army and Assam Rifles deployed 135 columns to diffuse the situation by carrying out active domination of sensitive and fringe areas.
Approximately 35,000 civilians were evacuated to safe zones and immediate relief & humanitarian aid was provisioned to displaced civilians by the Army and Assam Rifles.
