TVS Supply Chain and ALA Group Enter Aerospace Logistics Sector

TVS Supply Chain Solutions has partnered with Italy-based ALA Group to establish a joint venture aimed at serving India’s growing aerospace and defence supply chain market. Under the agreement, TVS Supply Chain Solutions will hold a majority stake of 51 percent, while ALA Group will own the remaining 49 percent.

The collaboration is expected to generate cumulative revenues exceeding ₹2,000 crore by 2031. The venture will focus on providing comprehensive logistics and procurement solutions for the aerospace and defence sectors. Its services will include sourcing of critical components, inventory management, warehousing, import operations, consolidation, sub-assembly, and final delivery.

Initially, the joint venture will target opportunities within India while exploring selected overseas markets in the future. The partnership is expected to strengthen India’s role as an important participant in the global aerospace supply chain network.

Project Kusha: India’s Indigenous Long-Range Air Defence Shield

India is making substantial progress in the development of Project Kusha, an advanced indigenous long-range air defence system. Developed under the leadership of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the project has brought together private-sector partners Solar Industries and Bharat Dynamics Limited through the Development-cum-Production Partner model.

Project Kusha is designed to create a layered defence architecture capable of intercepting multiple aerial threats, including drones, cruise missiles, stealth aircraft, and ballistic missiles. The system consists of three interceptor missile variants with varying operational ranges.

The M1 interceptor can engage targets at ranges between 120 and 150 kilometres, making it suitable for short-range threats. The M2 interceptor extends coverage to around 250 kilometres, while the M3 interceptor is designed for long-range engagements up to 400 kilometres. The M3 variant is also capable of countering high-speed ballistic missile threats.

All interceptor variants are expected to travel at speeds above Mach 5, providing rapid response capabilities. Project Kusha will complement existing air defence assets such as the S-400 system, Barak-8 missile system, and India’s indigenous ballistic missile defence network. The phased induction of the system is planned between 2028 and 2030.

MITHYA: Enhancing Strategic Missile Survivability

India is also developing a sophisticated electronic warfare system known as MITHYA. The project is aimed at protecting the country’s strategic missile arsenal from advanced ballistic missile defence systems deployed by potential adversaries.

MITHYA is being designed as a self-powered electronic warfare package capable of operating during missile flight. The system will use advanced techniques such as radar jamming, signal spoofing, and electronic masking to reduce the chances of hostile radar systems detecting or tracking Indian missiles.

The technology is believed to be associated with advanced strategic missile platforms, including variants linked to the Agni missile series. By improving the survivability and penetration capability of long-range missiles, MITHYA will strengthen India’s strategic deterrence posture and ensure the credibility of its nuclear and conventional missile forces.

Indian Navy to Strengthen Fleet with Indigenous Warships

The Indian Navy is preparing for a major expansion of its fleet with the induction of several indigenous vessels in June 2026. This development aligns with India’s objective of operating a fleet of 200 warships and submarines by 2035.

Among the vessels to be commissioned are INS Dunagiri and INS Mahendragiri, two advanced Project 17A stealth frigates. These warships are equipped with state-of-the-art combat systems, including BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, Barak-8 air defence missiles, advanced radar systems, torpedoes, and rocket launchers.

INS Dunagiri, built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, is designed for multi-role operations and enhanced battlefield awareness. INS Mahendragiri, constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, showcases India’s growing expertise in indigenous warship design and construction.

The Navy will also induct a survey vessel and anti-submarine warfare shallow water crafts, further enhancing maritime surveillance and underwater combat capabilities in the Indian Ocean Region.

India and Zimbabwe Deepen Defence Partnership

India and Zimbabwe have taken a significant step toward strengthening bilateral defence relations through the inaugural meeting of the Joint Defence Committee held in New Delhi.

The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in military training, maintenance support, and operational collaboration involving shared air assets. Both countries also explored opportunities in emerging areas such as defence manufacturing, border security, counter-terrorism operations, and peacekeeping missions.

The meeting was co-chaired by senior officials from both nations and built upon the Defence Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding signed during Aero India 2025. The engagement reflects the growing strategic relationship between India and Zimbabwe and opens new avenues for defence industry collaboration.
