The First Batch of Women Officers was Commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery of the Indian Army. Five Women Officers today joined the Regiment of Artillery after the successful completion of training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
First Batch of Women Officers in Regiment of Artillery
Five Women officers (WOs) got commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery, and they will face the same possibilities and challenges as their male counterparts (19 male officers are also being commissioned into the Artillery). These young female officers will be assigned to a variety of artillery regiments, where they will receive proper training and experience handling Rocket, Medium, Field, and Surveillance & Target Acquisition (SATA) & equipment in difficult conditions. Three of the five female officers are assigned to forces deployed around Northern borders, while the other two are assigned to difficult positions in the Western Theatre.
Commissioning Of Women In The Artillery Regiment
The Army has expanded its efforts to prepare female officers for “command and leadership roles” as Colonels and higher. The Army has launched a number of concurrent initiatives at many levels to guarantee that the force transitions quickly to inclusion by enabling female officers for senior posts. Earlier this year, a special selection board appointed 108 women officers to command positions at the Colonel level, with various policy exceptions granted.” The most significant milestone in the OTA passing-out parade is the first induction of female officers into the Regiment of Artillery, which includes over 280 units overseeing a variety of howitzers, guns, and multiple-launch rocket systems.
