UPDATE: The Territorial Army Exam 2022 for civilian candidates will be conducted by the Indian Army on 25 September 2022. Indian Army will open the Territorial Army 2022 registration for civilian candidates from 01 July 2022 to 30 July 2022. About Territorial Army (TA): It offers gainfully employed young men and women an opportunity of donning the uniform and serving the nation based on the concept of enabling motivated young men to serve in a military environment without having to sacrifice their primary professions. You can serve the nation in two capacities – as a civilian and as a soldier. No other option allows you such an expanse of experiences.

Can I join, tell me the eligibility conditions?

• Both male and female citizens of India and Ex-service officers who are medically fit.
• Employment – Gainfully Employed in Central Govt/Semi Govt /Pvt Firm/ Own business.
• Age – mostly 18 to 42 years
• Qualification – Graduate from any recognized university.

Terms & Conditions

• The commission is granted in the rank of Lieutenant.
• Pay and Allowances and privileges will be same as for Regular Army Officers when embodied for training and military service.
• Promotions up to Lt Col by time scale subject to fulfilling laid down criteria. Promotion to Colonel and Brigadier by selection.
• Officers commissioned in TA Infantry may be called out for military service for longer duration depending on the requirement.

Training ??

• One month of basic training in the first year of commission. 
• Two months of annual training camp every year including the first year.
• Six months training of three each at TA training School and at IMA Dehradun within first two years of commissioned service. 

I am a Civilian, how should I approach ??

Candidates are required to apply online by using the website
www.jointerritorialarmy.gov.in . Brief instructions for filling up the online Application Form (IAF(TA)-9 (Revised) Part1)have been given on the website.

• Visit the official website – jointerritorialarmy.gov.in
• Candidates are required to register online through the official website 
• Go to the careers section and click on ‘Join as Officer’ 
• Click on ‘New Registration’
• Enter basic details such as name, email ID, mobile number and password
• After submitting the details, the application number is generated 
• Read the instructions and click ‘Yes’ button
• Fill in the personal details, name, father’s name, permanent address, present address. Attach passport-size photograph and signature. 
• Click save and continue
• Enter the date of birth, gender, marital status, educational qualification, stream of education, whether gainfully employed, nature of employment, annual income, PAN number, name of organisation, name of department, address of department, nationality, citizenship and religion. 
• Click on Save and Continue
• Enter the number of attempts already made in SSB or any other Armed Forces
• Pay the application fee which is Rs 200 
• Submit the Territorial Army application form 2020

Selection Procedure

Candidates whose applications forms are found correct after scrutinisation will go through a written exam, successful candidates will be called for screening by a  Preliminary Interview Board (PIB), at their respective TA Group Headquarters. Candidates selected by PIB should provide brief BIO-DATA to include details about their employment with monthly income from all sources at the time of documentation immediately after PIB. Successful candidates will undergo further screening by the Service Selection Board (SSB) and Medical Board for final selection.  

For EX Service Officers Only

• Ex-Service Officers of three services as a candidate should send their application along with enclosures as mentioned in the application form to 
  Addl Directorate General TA, Integrated HQ of MoD (Army),  ‘L’ Block, New Delhi-01.
• The candidates are screened by an Army HQ Selection Board (ASB) held at Addl Dte Gen TA Army HQ, ‘L’ Block, New Delhi which is followed by a Medical Board for successful candidates.

Note: Candidate called for PIB are required to bring the following documents:-

• Certified copy of educational qualification certificates, all certificates and mark sheets beyond matric.
• Latest physical fitness certificate from a registered MBBS Doctor.
• Service certificate by candidates employed in Central Govt/Union Territory/State Govt/Semi Govt/Private Sector Authenticated by Head Office.
• Self Employed candidates or having own Business are required to submit an Affidavit on Non-Judicial stamp paper value of Rs. 10/- duly attested by the Deputy Commissioner of the District/Gazetted Officer/Commissioned Officer stating nature of self-employment and income earned annually with the attested photocopy of the latest Income Tax Return filed by the applicant along with a photocopy of the PAN Card.
• Incomplete application will be rejected without intimation.
