Sharang Artillery Guns: Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL), a state-owned corporation based in Kanpur’s Armapur, has received a momentous order. AWEIL’s most recent accomplishment involves a significant order for 300 ‘Sarang’ cannons from the prestigious Indian Army. These modern cannons are prepared to boost the armed services’ firepower and contribute to national security. Furthermore, AWEIL has triumphantly secured orders worth Rs 450 crore from various European countries, cementing its position as a forerunner in defence manufacturing.

Sharang Artillery Gun is a 130mm artillery gun ‘up-gunned’ to all-terrain 155mm, 45 calibres up-gunning based on the Army’s requirement to have better range, accuracy and consistency.
Sharang has been ‘up-gunned’ to 155mm, 45 calibres based on the Army’s tender. In 2013, the Army published a Request For Proposal (RFP) for both OFB and private businesses. With the modification, the gun’s range has increased from 27km to over 36km. It also has greater explosive capability and thus greater harm potential.
