• A Two-Day Festival Of Libraries 2023 Will Be Organised In New Delhi On 5th Of Next Month. President Droupadi Murmu Will Inaugurate The Festival. The Festival Will Focus On The Promotion Of Both Physical And Digital Libraries. The Digital Library Initiative Breaks Barriers, Empowering All Citizens With Access To Knowledge.
• The Festival Will Also Highlight Iconic Libraries From Across The World In Order To Initiate A Conversation On The Modernization And Digitization Of Libraries In India.
• The Festival Of Libraries Will Serve As A Platform To Showcase Iconic Libraries From Around The World, Initiating A Dialogue On The Modernization And Digitization Of Libraries. It Aims To Facilitate The Formulation Of Action-oriented Policies For The Development Of Model Libraries In India, Right Down To The Village And Community Levels.
• The Festival Will Also Mark The Launch Of A Special Ranking System For Libraries Across India, Further Promoting Excellence And Innovation In The Library Sector.

Parliament Monsoon Session Begins

• Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Also Chaired A Meeting Of The Business Advisory Committee Ahead Of The Session. He said Leaders Of All Parties Have Assured Cooperation In The Proceedings Of The House.
• The Monsoon Session Will Continue Till the 11th Of Next Month And There Will Be A Total Of 17 Sittings In This Session Spread Over 23 Days.
• During The Session, Important Legislation Including The Government Of National Capital Territory Of Delhi (Amendment) Bill 2023, The Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, The Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill, The Multi-state Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, The Forest (Conservation) Amendment Bill, The National Dental Commission Bill, The National Nursing And Midwifery Commission Bill And The Railways (Amendment) Bill Are Expected To Be Taken Up.

Asian Surfing Championship

• Indian Surf Team Won The Bronze Medal At The Asian Surfing Championship, Held At Thulisdhoo Island In Maldives. 18 Countries From Asia Took Part In This Championship.
• The President Of The Surfing Federation Of India Arun Vasu Said That the Surfing Team Finished Overall 3^rd With A Bronze Medal.
• Indian Surfers Will Now Get Ready For The First-ever World Surfing League (WSL) Event In India To Be Held In Mahabalipuram In Tamil Nadu From August 14 To 20 This Year.

Global Food Regulators Summit 2023

• The two-day Summit Which Has Been Organized By the Food Safety And Standards Authority Of India,  Is Aimed At Creating A Global Platform For Regulators On Enhancing Food Safety Systems And Regulatory Frameworks Through Collaboration.
• Director-general  Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus  Congratulated The Union Health Ministry And Food Safety And Standards Authority Of India  For Organizing This Maiden Global Food Regulators Summit.
• Dr Mandaviya Said, It Is The Need Of The Hour For Detailed Discussions On Issues Like Food Safety For Framing Universal Food Safety Standards In View Of The Increasing Habitual Disease And Food Adulteration.

Putin Will Not Attend BRICS Summit In South Africa

• South Africa’s Presidency Said That Russian President Vladimir Putin Will Not Attend The Summit Of The BRICS Group Of Nations In South Africa In August By Mutual Agreement.
• South Africa Faced A Dilemma In Hosting The Summit Because A Member Of The International Criminal Court (ICC) Issued An Arrest Warrant For Putin In March For Alleged War Crimes.  It Would Theoretically Be Required To Arrest Him If He Were To Attend.
• The Dilemma Led To Intense Debate In South Africa And The West About Whether The Warrant Would Be Executed, Given South Africa’s Stance Of Neutrality On The War In Ukraine And Pretoria’s Historic Ties To The Kremlin. The Leaders Of Brazil, India And South Africa Will Attend The Summit, The Presidency said.
