The Corps of Signals Motor Cycle Rider Display Team, also known as “THE DAREDEVILS,” is made up of volunteer dispatch riders who are not only skilled in their trade but also have self-determination, mental alertness, unrivaled courage, physical stamina, and precision in motorcycle handling. THE DAREDEVILS perform stunts with such precision to the split second that spectators miss their heartbeats. The team is also known for its breathtaking human formations on bikes.
About Daredevils Squad
The team members have extraordinary abilities that involve a high level of risk. Their display of breathtaking acrobatics with skill and an extreme sense of duty is one of the major factors contributing to the Corps of Signals earning laurels. On December 13, 1986, the team put on a thrilling performance at Calcutta Maidan, where Naib Subedar Hanuman Singh Arya laid down his life in the highest tradition of service. Nonetheless, the team members have always had the desire to do something daring.
The team is made up of one officer and 36 other ranks. A large number of volunteers express a desire to be a part of this elite team. Only after successfully completing three months of probation can they be inducted into the team.
The Dare Devils has a history of creating World Records. A few milestones which have got recognition in the GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS are:-
- 40 men on 07 Motorcycles in 1991
- 81 men on 09 Motorcycles in 1994
- 140 men on 11 Motorcycles in 1996
- 201 men on 10 Motorcycles in 2001
- 56 men on a single Motorcycle in 2013
- The other records which Limca Book Records have also recognized are the pyramid of 25 men on 03 bikes, traveling a distance of 01 km in 1987
- A Limca World Record was made at Jabalpur on 11 Jun 08 with 251 men on 11 motorcycles covering a distance of 240 meters. This record-breaking event was conducted in a fair manner in front of a large No of civil and military dignitaries.
Some Other Records of the Daredevils Squad
Most people on a motorcycle with 56 men on a single moving motorcycle driven by Hav GR Mohapatra and covering a distance of 1.1 km on 28 December 2013 at Dumna Airport, Jabalpur led by Captain Abhayjit Mehlawat and mentioned in Guinness, Limca, Asia, and India Books of World Records.

The world record for performing daring acts on a motorcycle at a height of 10,700 feet on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas was set on 14 August 2019 by the “Dare Devils” team and is listed in the India Books of World Records.
Longest ramp jump over 65 lying people covering a distance of 61.40 feet by Capt Dishant Kataria on 10 Nov 2020 at Gouri Shankar Parade Ground, 1STC and mentioned in Limca, Asia, India, Best of India Books of World Records.
Longest Distance Bike Ride while Sitting on Tail Light of Royal Enfield 350cc Motorcycle on 16 December 2020 at Gouri Shankar Parade Ground, 1STC by LNk Misal Gajanan Babanrao and mentioned in Limca, Asia, India, Best of India Books of World Records.
How to Join the Daredevils Squad?
Before joining the Daredevils Squad, an Individual has to be part of the Indian Army as commissioned or a non-commissioned officer. After joining the Army, the Individual has to choose or opt for the Corps of Signals as the Regiment. Now if the person is willing to join the Daredevils Squad, he /she has to apply for it. The Candidate is only selected for further Training in the Daredevils Squad after a three-month probation in the Unit Itself. After successful probation and training one can join the Daredevils Squad.
