Exercise Samudra-Shakti 2023 a Bilateral Maritime Exercise between India and Indonesia concluded on 19th May 2023. This Exercise was the 4th Edition of the naval exercise held between India and Indonesia in the territory area of the disputed South China Sea.
The ASW corvette INS Kavaratti, together with an integrated Chetak helicopter and a Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft, took part in the sea phase, which took place from May 17 to 19, 2023. The Indonesian Navy assets included the KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda, which was outfitted with a Panther helicopter and a CN 235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft. A number of complicated exercises were conducted, including tactical manoeuvres, weapon firings, helicopter operations, air defence, and anti-submarine warfare exercises, to improve interoperability between the two fleets.

A fruitful harbour phase preceded the sea phase, which included professional encounters, tabletop exercises, and sports exchanges. The successful completion of Exercise Samudra Shakti-23 demonstrated India and Indonesia’s strong alliance and underlined both fleets’ commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the area via cooperative engagements.
