The US and Indian Special Forces are participating in wargames with an emphasis on assisting fighter aircraft operations in advanced regions amid a continuing military stalemate with China. According to defence insiders, the wargames are being held at Special Forces training facilities close by.
Wargames for Fighter Aircraft Ops
According to the sources, the actions were likely centered on aiding the fighter aircraft operations, including laser-designating targets in frontline regions so that precision-guided bombs could hit their targets precisely.
According to the reports, the troops from both nations are likely to join the bigger contingent of both sides at Kalaikunda, known as Ex CopeIndia, which also includes their fighter and transport planes. The practice, which was supposed to start on April 10, may vary, but the US Air Force is expected to send in F-15 Strike Eagle fighter jets.
The war games are taking place as Indian forces have been locked in a three-year military standstill. The Indian Air Force has lately performed drills in the UK and the UAE with major world powers as part of its efforts to boost the Indian military’s reputation abroad. Also, it will participate in the multinational exercise Orion in France with its most powerful Rafale fighter jets and another wargame with fighter jets from a frontline command in Greece.
The IAF, which has frequently deployed in forward locations very close to the border during the battle with China, has been the nation’s strongest arm alongside the ground forces. Together with the Eastern Ladakh sector, the Indian Special Forces men are stationed on high mountain peaks to support operations involving combat helicopters and fighter planes.
