Boeing has announced the beginning of Apache Helicopter manufacturing for the Indian Army at its Mesa, Arizona facility. These AH-64E helicopters are known for their superior technology and will assist strengthen India’s defence capabilities, building on a partnership between Boeing and Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL), which delivered the first AH-64 Apache fuselage to the Indian army.
Boeing Begins Production Of Apache Helicopters
Boeing has announced that construction of Apache Helicopters for the Indian Army has begun at its state-of-the-art plant in Mesa, Arizona. The Indian Army’s AH-64E Apache helicopters, which are known for their superior technology and remarkable performance, are set to improve operational preparedness and defence capabilities.
The manufacturing method is based on an ongoing collaboration with Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL), which manufactures AH-64E fuselages at its cutting-edge plant in Hyderabad, India. TBAL delivered the first AH-64 Apache fuselage to the Indian Army earlier this year. “We are delighted to have reached yet another significant milestone, demonstrating Boeing’s unwavering commitment to enhancing India’s defence capabilities,” said Salil Gupte, President of Boeing India.
Significance of Apache Helicopter
The AH-64’s cutting-edge technology and battle-tested performance will boost the Indian Army’s operational effectiveness and defensive capabilities. Among the company’s achievements is the successful delivery of 22 AH-64E Apache helicopters to the Indian Air Force in 2020.Boeing has agreed to build six more AH-64E helicopters for the Indian Army, with deliveries scheduled for 2024.
“The AH-64E continues to be the world’s premier attack helicopter,” said Christina Upah, Vice President of Attack Helicopter Programmes and Senior Boeing Mesa Site Executive. Boeing’s involvement with over 300 local Indian companies, in conjunction with its joint venture focusing on essential component manufacturing, underlines the company’s goal for a resilient and integrated aerospace ecosystem in India.
Boeing’s position as a growth accelerator extends beyond the technical sphere, with yearly sourcing from India topping $1 billion. The company employs over 5,000 people in India and works with over 13,000 supply chain partners, creating community participation and delivering citizenship programmes that benefit over 500,000 people.
