Defence Establishments Being Mapped Under PM Gati Shakti

Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said that the defence establishments of the country are being mapped under PM Gati Shakti but they would remain confidential data.
In October last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Gati Shakti – National Master Plan aimed at developing integrated infrastructure to reduce logistics costs. All logistics and connectivity infrastructure projects, entailing investment of over Rs 500 crore, are routed through the Network.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2021, announced the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan’ worth Rs 100 trillion. Gati, the Hindi word for speed, aims to boost economic growth (Shakti) through infrastructure building.

Russia FM Sergey Lavrov Calls For Reforms In UNSC

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, on Thursday, said that this is high time to reform the United Nations Security Council.
“…It is high time to reform the UN Security Council,” Lavrov said while addressing a press conference in Delhi.
Lavrov also said that according to the West, this invasion of Ukraine reflects the reaction to the war that the Western prepared for many years, which is why it was arming the Ukrainian regime.
The participants of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi agreed that the African Union should become a permanent member of the G20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

Bilateral Ties ‘Abnormal’, Need To Discuss Border Tensions Candidly: EAM Jaishankar

EAM S Jaishankar met Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang on the sidelines of G20 meeting here and conveyed that the current state of bilateral relationship was “abnormal” in the context of challenges especially that of peace and tranquility in the order areas.
The two countries held 26^th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) last month with a senior Ministry of External Affairs official travelling to Beijing.
During the WMCC meeting, the two sides reviewed the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector of India-China border areas and discussed proposals for disengagement in the “remaining areas in an open and constructive manner, which would help in restoration of peace and tranquillity along the LAC in Western Sector and create conditions for restoration of normalcy in bilateral relations”.
There have been disengagement from several friction points since the standoff following talks but there is a large presence of Chinese forces across the LAC in violation of border agreements. India has responded with appropriate “counter posture”.

S Jaishankar Meets US Secretary Of State, Says Reviewed Bilateral Ties

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday said he reviewed ties with the United States and discussed global issues at a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken here.
He also discussed the agendas for today’s discussions that included challenges of food, fertilizers and fuel security that are make-or-break issues for developing countries.
He also said that they also discussed how to mitigate the global impacts of Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine, the US and India’s cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, the successful launch of the initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET), and regional issues.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the inaugural speech at the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM) in the national capital through a video feed.
The meeting comes amidst the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
PM Modi in his video address urged the G20 to build consensus and resolve differences saying, “We should not allow issues that we cannot resolve together to come in the way of those we can.”
The FMM is the second in the list of ministerial meetings under the Indian Presidency of this year’s G20 summit and is being presided by Mr Jaishankar.

60 Anniversary Of ‘FIRST SUPERSONICS’

With the induction of MiG-21 in March 1963, the Sqn heralded the arrival of the first supersonic aircraft in the IAF inventory.
The CAS commanded the First Supersonics Squadron from 2001 to 2003.
On the occasion of the IAF No 28 Sqn ‘FIRST SUPERSONICS’ completing 60 years, the CAS Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and AOC-in-C hq WAC Air Marshal PM Sinha flew in a large force engagement exercise comprising a formation of 14 MiG-29 aircraft.
Acquired in March 1963, the MiG-21, a legendary fighter & the first supersonic aircraft in the IAF inventory has completed 60 years today.
Hero of the 1971 War & upgraded over the years to undertake multiple combat roles, the aircraft continues to serve the nation even today.

Testing Out The Jet Back Suit

An Indian Para SF operator testing out the jet back that’s being showcased by Gravity Industries in Agra. It’s to be noted that the Indian army has plans to procure 40-50 jet packs for its special forces operators.
Each jet pack costs 4-5 crores.
The Indian Army had issued a request for proposal (RFP) to procure 48 jet pack suits under emergency procurement through the fast track procedure (FTP) under the buy Indian category in January.
Considered to be a game-changer, the equipment can go for 10 kilometers. “The individual will have the weight of engines and battery, which is roughly around 50 kgs,” the company had said.
