Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan Assumes Charge As Controller Of Personnel Services

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan assumed charge as Controller of Personnel Services on 17 Apr 23. The Flag Officer was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jul 87 and is a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare.
He is an alumnus of the NDA, the Joint Services Command and Staff College, Shrivenham, United Kingdom; the College of Naval Warfare, Karanja; and the United States Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, USA.
A recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal, the Admiral has held several key operational, staff, and training appointments in his naval career including the command of missile vessels INS Vidyut and INS Vinash; the missile corvette INS Kulish; the guided missile destroyer INS Mysore; and the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.

Odisha Govt To Deploy Superannuated Teachers Of AFMS In Medical Colleges, Hospitals

Aiming towards improving the quality of medical education in the state, the Odisha government has initiated steps for the redeployment of superannuated teachers of Armed Force Medical Service in partnership with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and NITI Aayog.
The government informed in a press release that the engagement of these experienced teachers would add value to the excellence of medical education and health care services in Odisha.
The AFMS is an inter-services organization under the Ministry of Defense, covering the Indian Armed Forces. It came into existence in 1948.
The Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (in the rank of Lt Gen or equivalent) is the head of the Armed Forces Medical Services.

US Air Force’s Rockwell B1 Lancer Participates In Exercise Cope India 2023

The Rockwell B1 Lancer of the US Air Force participated in the ongoing Exercise Cope India 2023 which began on April 13, the IAF said. The Rockwell B1 Lancer also known as “Bone” used by the US Air Force participated along with other fighter aircraft in Exercise Cope India 2023.
Exercise Cope India 23, a bilateral Air Exercise between the IAF and the United States Air Force started at Air Force Stations Arjan Singh (Panagarh), Kalaikunda and Agra on April 10.
The exercise aims to enhance mutual understanding between the two Air Forces of two forces and share their best practices, the Ministry of Defence said.

Big Bang Boom Solutions Sets Up Naval Research And Development Center

India’s fastest-growing startup in the defence sector, Big Bang Boom Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (BBBS), inaugurated the Naval Research and Development Center (NRDC) in Chennai.
NRDC is expected to carry out varied projects including Passive Naval Deterrence, Electronic Warfare Systems, AI and Sensor enabled Fire detection and Suppression, High Expansion Foaming Systems, Oil spill containment and other.
The government has declared the defence sector as one of the core investment areas under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat. BBBS’ contribution to the sector includes, Anti Drone Defence System, See through Armor Concept and a slew of other offerings, which has also led it to be accorded the prestigious SKOCH award.

Army Commanders Conference Organised In Hybrid Format

Army Commanders’ Conference (ACC) is an apex-level biannual event which is an institutional platform for conceptual level deliberations, culminating in making important policy decisions for the Indian Army. The first ACC for the year 2023 is scheduled from 17 to 21 April 2023.
On the first-day of the conference, agenda points sponsored by various Command Headquarters will be discussed, followed by an update from Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command and sessions by Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters.
The forum will also review the progress on the activities charted out as part of ‘Year of Transformation-2023’ along with progress on Agnipath Scheme, digitisation & automation initiatives, Combat Engineers tasks, work aspects and budget management.
