On the horizon of military operations, a historic event occurred in a determined step towards changing the Indian Armed Forces. The aviation maintenance team of Dhruva Command (Northern Command) completed an incredible accomplishment with zeal and determination—a win that took the nation closer to the cherished ideal of theaterisation.
The Indian Army’s Northern Command proudly announced on Monday that the Dhruva Command’s Air Maintenance team successfully carried out the maiden airdrops of warfighting loads by the esteemed AN 32 aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in support of the Mechanised Forces on Western Borders, a monumental step towards integration and synergy.
Moving A Step Closer To Theaterisation: Army
This landmark feat was a watershed point in military history, as the Indian Army effortlessly linked forces with the IAF in their constant pursuit of modernity and efficiency. The coordinated efforts of these two pillars of national security matched the armed forces’ steadfast commitment to adapting to the changing character of warfare.
The Northern Command published images of an IAF AN-32 airdropping warfighting loads one after the other. The clattering roar of freight descending from the clouds seemed to herald the entrance of a new age—an era that would transform the fundamental foundations of the Indian military. The significance of this milestone cannot be emphasised, as it illustrates the Indian Army’s and other armed services’ tireless efforts to achieve seamless integration of their operational capabilities. The concept of theaterisation, which has been a rallying cry for strategic reforms, aims to produce a coherent and agile force capable of striking quickly and decisively on several fronts.
The theatre commands are being planned to integrate the capabilities of the three services and ensure the best use of their resources. Notably, earlier in 2021, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, Late Gen Bipin Rawat, directed all three services to conduct independent studies on the theaterisation plan for its adoption.
