Project-18 Class Destroyer

The Project-18 Class Destroyer is a future class of stealth-guided missile destroyers being developed for the Indian Navy. These destroyers will have advanced AESA radar, electronic warfare systems, and other features. These destroyers will have a displacement of 14,000 tonnes, which is twice that of the Kolkata and Visakhapatnam Class Destroyers. The destroyer can carry 144 missiles, including Brahmos 2 hypersonic cruise missiles, SMART anti-submarine missiles, Barak-8, XRSAM, and anti-ballistic missile air defence missiles. The destroyer will also be equipped with a laser weapon and an electronic magnetic rail gun. Between the 2030s and the 2040s, a total of 5 -10 destroyers will enter service.

The Nilgiri class frigate is currently being built for the Indian Navy. A total of seven frigates are built by two distinct shipyards, MDL and GRSE. These Frigates will be equipped with the MF STAR AESA radar, which is comparable to the US Navy’s AEGIS radar. These frigates will be outfitted with 32 Barak-8 air defence missiles, eight BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, and two RUB 6,000 anti-submarine rocket launchers. These Frigates will be Kolkata Class Destroyers. All seven Frigates will be in service by the mid-2020s.

INS VISHAL

It is currently under development as a supercarrier for the Indian Navy. The INS Vishal will have a displacement of around 65,000 tonnes and an advanced EMALS [Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System]. CATOBAR carrier- INS will be used in the design.

The STOBAR configuration allows aeroplanes to take off with more fuel and armaments. INS Vishal will transport 55 aircraft, including combat aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), fixed-wing ASW and AEW&C aircraft, and helicopters. The INS Vishal is scheduled to enter service in the mid-2020s.

S5 Class Submarine

The S5 Class Submarine is a new class of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, also known as an SSBN. This submarine would be twice the size of an Arihant class SSBN. These submarines would be outfitted with 16 MIRV-capable K6 submarine launch ballistic missiles. Currently, it is the Indian Navy’s most classified programme, with few details available to the public. The Indian Navy intends to build three SSBNs.

Project-75 Alpha Class Submarine

The Project-75 alpha class submarine is a new nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN). Six submarines are scheduled to enter service between 2030 and 2050. The first three submarines are expected to be built by 2024. These will be powered by an advanced miniaturised pressurised water reactor (PWR) being developed by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Heavy torpedoes and hypersonic cruise missiles will be able to be carried by this submarine. The first submarine is scheduled to go into service in 2032.
