World Physical Therapy Day

  • World PT Day is observed to generate awareness about the crucial contribution physiotherapists make to society, enabling people to be mobile, well, and independent. This is observed on 8 September.
  • Designated in 1996, World PT Day is promoted by World Physiotherapy.

International Literacy Day

  • International Literacy Day is an international observance, celebrated each year on 8 September, that was declared by UNESCO on 26 October 1966 at the 14th session of UNESCO’s General Conference.
  • It was celebrated for the first time in 1967.
  • Its aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities, and societies. Celebrations take place in several countries.

Eastern Economic Forum

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India is eager to strengthen its partnership with Russia on Arctic subjects.
  • Addressing the Plenary Session of 7th Eastern Economic Forum being held in Vladivostok through video conferencing, Mr Modi said, there is immense scope for cooperation in the field of energy.
  • He said, along with energy, India has also made significant investments in the Russian Far East in the fields of pharma and diamonds.
  • The Prime Minister said, in 2019, he had a chance to participate in this forum face-to-face and at that time he had announced the Act Far-East policy of India.
  • He said, as a result, India’s cooperation with the Russian Far East has increased in various fields.  Mr Modi said, today this policy has become a major pillar of the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership of India and Russia.

Kartavya Path

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kartavya Path.
  • It symbolizes a shift from erstwhile Rajpath being an icon of power to Kartavya Path being an example of public ownership and empowerment.
  • He will also unveil the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at India Gate on the occasion. These steps are in line with Prime Minister’s second Panch Pran for New India in Amrit Kaal: remove any trace of colonial mindset.
  • The statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, which will be unveiled by the Prime Minister, is being installed in the same place where a hologram statue of Netaji was unveiled earlier this year on Parakram Diwas 23rd January by him.
  • The statue, made of granite, is a fitting tribute to the immense contribution of Netaji to the freedom struggle and would be a symbol of the country’s indebtedness to him. Crafted by Arun Yogiraj who was the main sculptor, the 28 feet tall statue has been carved from a monolithic granite stone and weighs 65 Metric Tonnes.

India’s First Intra-Nasal Corona Vaccine

  • India’s first intranasal Covid vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech has received approval for restricted use in emergency among people aged above 18 years.
  • In a tweet, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has termed this feat as a big boost to India’s fight against Covid – 19.  He informed that Bharat Biotech’s recombinant nasal vaccine has been approved by Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) for primary immunization against COVID-19 in above 18 years age group for restricted use in an emergency.
  • Dr Mandaviya also said, this step will further strengthen the government’s collective fight against the pandemic.
  • He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has harnessed its science, research and development, and human resources in the fight against COVID-19. The Minister expressed hope that with the science-driven approach and efforts of all the country will defeat COVID-19.

India – UK Conducted Cyber Security Exercise

  • India’s National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) and the UK Government in collaboration with BAE Systems successfully designed and conducted the Cyber Security Exercise for 26 Countries.
  • The exercise has been conducted as part of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative- Resilience Working Group which is being led by India under the leadership of the National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC).
  • National Security Council Secretariat in a statement said that the exercise has been facilitated by BAE Systems through the Immersive Labs platform, and the scenario has been written specifically for the participants based on Threat Intelligence and operational experiences.
  • The theme of the exercise is based on the Energy Sector in which the respective National Cyber Crisis Management Teams of the CRI Partner Nations will have to deal with a ransomware attack on multiple electricity distribution companies.
  • The aim to organize this virtual Cyber Exercise on Ransomware Resilience is to simulate a large, widespread cyber security incident affecting organizations within a country.

61st Edition Of Subroto Cup

  • The 61st edition of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament began after a gap of two years, at the BR Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi marking the start of the most prestigious football tournament for schools all over the country.
  • The tournament, organised by the Subroto Mukherjee Sports Education Society (SMSES) along with the Indian Air Force, kicked-off the first match in the Under-14 Boys category between National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Govt. Model HSS, Sector 36, Chandigarh which finished in a goalless draw.

Govt Campaign For DAY-NRLM

  • Rural Development Ministry is conducting a 15-day country-wide campaign from 7th to 20th of September to expedite the process of mobilization of left-out poor rural poor women across 34 states and Union Territories into women’s Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM’s) fold.
  • During the campaign, women institutions from each village will conduct a social mobilization event where each member will bring a friend or neighbor who is a non-SHG member.
  • The benefits of being a part of DAY-NRLM SHGs will be highlighted, and those non-members, thus motivated to join will be linked with these community institutions.
  • Special strategies are also being prepared by block-level staff across states to reach women in remote gram panchayats.
  • The campaign also aims to ensure that SHGs are included in higher-level federations; tier two level Village Organisations and tier three level Cluster Level Federations. As of 31st of August over 8.5 crore families have been linked with 78.33 lakh SHGs under DAY-NRLM’s fold.

Neeraj Chopra Wins Diamond League Trophy

  • Neeraj Chopra is the first Indian to win the Diamond Trophy
  • Chopra led the field from his first legal attempt which was measured at 88.44m
  • Neeraj capped off a dream season with the prestigious Diamond League Final title
  • Neeraj finished ahead of Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch and Germany’s Julian Webber to script history.
  • The Indian javelin star began with a foul while Vadlejch took the lead in the first attempt with an 84.15m throw. However, Neeraj threw 88.44m in his 2nd attempt and it was not bettered till the end of the competition.
  • Neeraj then threw 88.00m in his 3rd attempt, 86.11m in his 4th attempt and 87.00m in his 5th and 83.60m in his final attempt. Vadlejch finished 2nd with a best attempt of 86.94m.

GoI’s Mourning On Sep 11th For Queen Elizabeth II

  • As a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Government has decided that there will be one day State Mourning on September 11th throughout country.
  • On the day of Mourning, the National Flag will be flown at half mast throughout India on all buildings where the National Flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment on the day.
