The man who is frequently credited with being the father of artificial intelligence has left Google, citing worries about the spread of false information, the potential for AI to completely change the employment market, and the “existential risk” posed by the development of true digital intelligence. As initially reported by the New York Times, Dr. Geoffrey Hinton, who constructed a neural net in 2012 at the University of Toronto with two of his students, left Google this week.
