Hindi Diwas Celebrated Across the Nation

  • Hindi Diwas is celebrated on the 14th of September, to commemorate the adoption of Hindi in Devanagari script as one of the official languages in different Hindi speaking states of India.
  • Hindi was adopted as one of the two official languages of the Republic of India by Constituent Assembly of India due to the efforts of Beohar Rajendra Simha along with Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Kaka Kalelkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt and Seth Govind Das.
  • As such, on the 50th birthday of Beohar Rajendra Simha on the 14th of September 1949, the efforts resulted in the adoption of Hindi as an official language.
  • This decision was ratified by the Constitution of India that came into effect on the 26th of January 1950.
  • Under Article 343 of the Indian Constitution, Hindi written in Devanagari script was adopted as one of official languages. In all, there are 22 Scheduled languages of India.

Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav

  • Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will launch Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav, a countrywide mega drive for voluntary blood donation from 17th September to 1st October this year. The special drive is a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
  • The registrations for the Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav have begun on the E-Raktkosh portal and Aarogya Setu app. 1st October is observed as the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.

Shoonya Forum

  • NITI Aayog today hosted the first Shoonya Forum to commemorate the first anniversary of India’s zero pollution e-mobility campaign in Delhi. On the occasion, more than 25 Shoonya partners announced their commitment and pledged to accelerate India’s clean mobility story with Electric Vehicles to improve air quality for Indian citizens. A three-report series highlighting the economic opportunities that an indigenous battery industry presents for India was released during the event.
  • Delivering the keynote address, G20 Sherpa and former Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said Shoonya campaign is an effective collaboration between industry, government, and citizens which is helping in electric mobility transition in India.
  • Shoonya initiative promotes zero-pollution delivery vehicles by working with consumers and industry. The campaign aims to accelerate adoption of electric vehicles in the urban deliveries segment and create consumer awareness about the benefits of zero-pollution delivery. Urban freight vehicles account for 10 percent of freight transportation-related carbon dioxide emissions in India, and these emissions are expected to grow by 114 percent by 2030.
  • EVs emit no tailpipe emissions, which can contribute immensely to improved air quality. They emit 15 to 40 percent less carbon dioxide compared to their internal combustion engine counterparts and have lower operational cost even during their manufacture.

Digital Infrastructure Providers Association’s Event

  • Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will attend the Digital Infrastructure Providers Association’s annual flagship event 2022 in New Delhi.
  • The Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan will also attend the event. Communications Ministry said, the theme of the event is Gati Shakti Vision for 5G and Beyond, which is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
  • During the event, the delegates will discuss the topics including synergizing robust digital infrastructure with smart cities, Infrastructure 4.0 frontier for digital transformation, and integrated infrastructure development – financial opportunities.

Gaganyaan To Be Done By End Of 2023 Or Early 2024

  • Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh has said that the first trial for Gaganyaan, India’s maiden human space mission, will be done by the end of 2023 or at the beginning of 2024.
  • He said the first test flight will be followed by sending a female-looking humanoid robot – Vyom Mitra to ensure that the final flight of Gaganyaan is flawless. Dr. Jitendra Singh said, on the basis of these two missions, our astronauts will go in the third mission.
  • With the launch of Gaganyaan, India will become the fourth nation in the world to launch a Human Spaceflight Mission after the US, Russia, and China.

Expert Committee To Address Regulatory Issues

  • The government has constituted an expert committee to examine and suggest appropriate measures to address regulatory and other issues to enable scaling up investments by venture capital and private equity investment.
  • Finance Ministry said the six-member panel will be headed by former SEBI chairman M Damodaran. The committee will suggest measures to further accelerates investment into start-ups and sunrise sectors.
  • In her Budget speech 2022-23, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed to set up an expert committee to examine and suggest appropriate measures to scale venture capital and private equity investments in India.
