According to the most recent Reporters Without Borders (RSF) report, India’s ranking in the 2023 World Press Freedom Index has dropped to 161 out of 180 nations. In comparison, Pakistan fared better in terms of media freedom, ranking 150, an improvement from 157th last year. India was rated 150 in 2022. Sri Lanka also improved significantly on the index, ranking 135th this year, up from 146th in 2022.
