Martyrs’ Day (also known as Sarvodaya Day or Shaheed Diwas on a national level) is a day set aside in India to honor the nation’s recognized martyrs. On Martyrs’ Day, the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Chief of Defence Staff, and the three Service Chiefs lay wreaths decorated with multi-colored flowers at the Raj Ghat memorial. The Last Post is sounded by military personnel blowing bugles. As a sign of respect, the inter-services contingent reverses their arms. At 11 a.m., the country observes a two-minute silence in memory of Indian martyrs. Participants offer interfaith prayers and sing tributes.

15 February:
- Bihar Government Has Announced To Commemorated 15th February As “Bihar Shahid Diwas” In Memory Of The 34 Freedom Fighters Who Were Killed By Police In Tarapur Town (Now Subdivision) Of Bihar’s Munger District In 1932.
23 March:
- The Nation Observes On March 23rd As Martyrs Day (Shaheed Diwas Or Sarvodaya Day) To Honor The Sacrifices Of Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, And Sukhdev Thapar On 23 March 1931.
19 May:
- It Is Celebrated As Bhasha Shahid Divas To Commemorate Those 11 Martyrs Who Sacrificed Their Lives For The Sake Of Protecting The Bengali Language In The Barak Valley In The State Of Assam, In Which 11 People Were Killed By State Police, Took Place On 19 May 1961 At Silchar Railway Station.
13 July:
- Kashmir Martyrs’ Day Was A Former Official State Holiday Observed In Kashmir In Remembrance Of 21 Muslim Protesters Killed On 13 July 1931 By Dogra Forces Of The Princely State Of Jammu And Kashmir While Demonstrating Adjacent To Maharaja, Hari Singh Of Kashmir.
21 October:
- 21 October Is Police Martyrs’ Day (Or Police Commemoration Day), Observed By Police Departments Nationwide. On This Date In 1958, A Central Reserve Police Force Patrol At The Indo-Tibetan Border In Ladakh Was Ambushed By Chinese Forces, As Part Of The Ongoing Sino-Indian Border Dispute.

- Odisha Observes 17 November, The Death Anniversary Of Lala Lajpat Rai (1864 – 1928), The “Lion Of Punjab”, A Leader In The Indian Fight For Freedom From The British Raj.
19 November
- The Birthday Of Rani Lakshmibai, 19 November 1828, Queen Of The Maratha-Ruled Princely State Of Jhansi, Is Observed As Martyrs’ Day In The Region, And Honours Those Who Gave Their Lives In The Rebellion Of 1857, Of Which She Was A Leading Figure.
24 November:
- The Death Anniversary Of The Ninth Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur On 24 November 1674, Who Was Executed By The Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, Is Observed As Martyrs’ Day.
December 26:
- Observed As Veer Bal Diwas On 26 December. In 1705 AD, Both The Sahibzadas Of 10th Guru Gobind Singh Ji Were Martyred At The Hands Of The Mughals. It was Celebrated In Honor Of The Four Sons Of The Tenth Sikh Guru.
