On Sunday (June 25), the Indian Air Force conducted Exercise ‘Ranvijay’ with a focus on integration. It was carried out from various air bases of the IAF’s command headquarters in Prayagraj. The IAF used its diverse combat fleet, including the Sukhoi Su-30MKI, a twin-engine multirole fighter aircraft manufactured by Russia’s Sukhoi and built under licence by India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
Exercise Ranvijay
Sukhoi Su-30MKI is a heavy, all-weather long-range fighter aircraft. After the French-made Rafale jets, it is the IAF’s most advanced fighter. The first fighter aircraft joined the IAF fleet in 2002, while the first aircraft produced in India entered service with the IAF in 2004.
Exercise Ranvijay was held by the Indian Air Force with an emphasis on integration and joint operations. The aircraft demonstrated the Sukhoi and IAF’s ability to undertake night operations. It also demonstrated excellent synchronisation between man and machine, as well as the IAF’s capacity to conduct operations under any conditions. The IAF used its varied combat fleet, including the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI, for day and night missions.
According to the Central Air Command (CAC), the main focus of this exercise was on coordinated operations while fully utilising the Indian Air Force’s (IAF’s) Electronic Warfare capabilities. This exercise required all combat assets to carry out full-spectrum operations. It will also increase the IAF’s ability to conduct night operations and operate in all-weather situations around the world.
“IAF UB Hills Prayagraj “Exercise Ranvijay was conducted in UB Hills and Central Air Command Area of Responsibility from June 16-23, when full spectrum operations by all combat assets were carried out by day and night,” the IAF’s Central Air Command said. “The emphasis was on integrated operations while fully utilising the electronic warfare capabilities of the Indian Air Force.
With its technological capabilities, the exercise demonstrated that the IAF is capable of meeting challenges and protecting the nation’s skies from India’s foes. Furthermore, the unification of the three tri-services will benefit India’s rivals along the Western and Northern borders.
