Soldiers from the Indian Army and the Mongolian Armed Forces are taking part in the ongoing Nomadic Elephant 2023 exercise in Mongolia. In a tweet, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information, MoD (Army) informed about the troops’ involvement in the drill.
The exercise, which began on July 17, is being held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The Nomadic Elephant-23 exercise is set to end on July 31.
Exercise Nomadic Elephant 2023
The Exercise is an annual training event with Mongolia that alternates between Mongolia and India. Nomadic Elephant-23 was held in October 2019 at the Special Forces Training School in Bakloh. This exercise includes platoon-level field training exercises (FTX).
The drill will feature soldiers from the Mongolian Armed Forces Unit 084 and Indian Army personnel from the JAMMU AND KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY Regiment. On July 16, an Indian Army force was flown to Ulaanbaatar by an Indian Air Force C-17 aircraft.
This exercise aims to foster constructive military relations, exchange best practices, and foster interoperability, goodwill, camaraderie, and friendship between the two forces. The exercise’s central theme will be counter-terrorism operations in hilly terrain under a United Nations mandate.
This exercise covers the Platoon level Field Training Exercise (FTX). During the exercise, Indian and Mongolian forces participated in a variety of training activities aimed at improving their skills and capacities. Endurance training, reflex firing, room intervention, small team tactics, and rock craft training are among the exercises available. Both sides’ soldiers will benefit from one other’s operational experience.
Significance of Ex Nomadic Elephant 2023
Both India and Mongolia are committed to regional security and cooperation. NOMADIC ELEPHANT-23 will be another key milestone in the Indian Army’s and Mongolian Army’s defence collaboration, further strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
