Russia is seeking India’s help to avoid being placed on a blacklist, which would further isolate Moscow from global finance. The pressure comes as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), an intergovernmental group focused on countering money laundering and terrorist funding, prepares for a summit in June, during which members may impose sanctions on Russia. Despite the fact that Russia is currently the world’s most heavily sanctioned country due to its invasion of Ukraine, a FATF blacklisting would place Moscow in the same category as North Korea, Iran, and Myanmar.
