What Is Raisina Dialogue

  • Raisina Dialogue is an annual conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, which aims to address the most challenging issues faced by the world.
  • The conference takes place in New Delhi and is attended by people from political, business, media, and civil society backgrounds. It is held annually since 2016 in New Delhi.

  • “The Dialogue is structured as a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral discussion, involving heads of state, cabinet ministers and local government officials, who are joined by thought leaders from the private sector, media and academia,” according to the website of Raisina Dialogue.

Theme Of This Year’s Edition

  • The theme of the 2024 edition is “Chaturanga: Conflict, Contest, Cooperate, Create,” according to a press release by the Ministry of External Affairs.
  • During the three-day conference, the participants will engage with each other over six “thematic pillars”.
  • These include: “(i) Tech Frontiers: Regulations & Realities; (ii) Peace with the Planet: Invest & Innovate; (iii) War & Peace: Armouries & Asymmetries; (iv) Decolonising Multilateralism: Institutions & Inclusion; (v) The Post 2030 Agenda: People & Progress; and (vi) Defending Democracy: Society & Sovereignty,” the press release added.

  • The Raisina Dialogue 2023 was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni as the chief guest.
  • The event drew over 2500 delegates from more than 100 countries, including ministers, former heads of state and government, military commanders, industry leaders, technology experts, academics, journalists, scholars on strategic affairs, and youth.
  • The theme for the 2023 edition was “Provocation, Uncertainty, Turbulence: Lighthouse in the Tempest?” with five thematic pillars: Neo Insurgence: Geographies, Domains, Ambitions; Amoral Mosaic: Contest, Cooperate or Cancel; Chaotic Codes: Sovereignty, Security, Society; Pernicious Passports: Climate, Commons, Citizens; Grey Rhinos: Democracies, Dependencies, and Debt Traps.

Who All Are Attending

  • More than 2,500 participants from around 115 countries will be joining the conference in person. The Dialogue is expected to be viewed by millions across the world on various digital platforms.
  • The participants include ministers, former prime ministers and presidents, military commanders, technology leaders, academics, journalists, scholars on strategic affairs, and experts from leading think tanks.
