In the 2024 QS Asia University Rankings, India has outperformed China by having 148 universities on the list, which is 37 more than the previous year. This achievement makes India the country with the highest representation in the rankings, surpassing Mainland China with 133 universities and Japan with 96.

  • QS World University Rankings Founder Nunzio Quacquarelli is a portfolio of comparative university rankings compiled by global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

  • Its first and earliest edition was published in collaboration with Times Higher Education (THE) magazine as Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings, inaugurated in 2004 to provide an independent source of comparative data about university performance.
  • QS Rankings are considered the most reliable by students for their authenticity and the methodology used by them.

QS Asia University Rankings 2024

  • India surpassed China with the highest number of universities listed in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024 released. The rankings show the highest number of 37 new entrants from India with seven Indian universities ranked among the top 100 Asian universities.

  • India is now the most represented higher education system with 148 featured universities, according to the QS Asia University Rankings 2024.  Compared to 148 Indian institutions, the number from China is 133 and Japan is 96.
  • Peking University From China (Mainland) Retains Its Top-most Position. The University Of Hong Kong In The Second Position And The National University Of Singapore In The Third Place.
  • The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, continues to retain its top ranking in India.
  • Similar to the previous year, IISc Bangalore, Delhi University, and five Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), including Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kharagpur, and Kanpur, have secured positions among the top 100 institutes in Asia.
